چکیده

In this work, we present a methodology to minimize the number of potential conflicts between aircraft trajectories based on route-slot allocation techniques. The traffic assignment problem is modeled as a combinatorial optimization problem for which two metaheuristic optimization algorithms are developed and implemented. The first algorithm relies on a standard simulated annealing, while the second algorithm uses a hybrid-metaheuristic method. The proposed algorithms were implemented and tested on real air-traffic data for which an optimal solution for every trajectory is obtained within affordable computation time.

ERASMUS Strategic Deconfliction to Benefit SESAR

This paper summarizes the methods and results from our analyses of the ERASMUS 1 autonomous strategic deconfliction concept. An international team of researchers from R&D labs and universities across Europe and the US generated conclusive performance results via real-time and fast time simulations and human-in-the-loop experiments during a 30month study of the impact that machine-generated, sub...

Trajectory deconfliction with constraint programming

As acknowledged by the SESAR program, current ATC systems must be drastically improved to accommodate the predicted traffic growth in Europe. In this context, the Episode 3 project aims at assessing the performance of new ATM concepts, like 4D-trajectory planning and strategic deconfliction. One of the bottlenecks impeding ATC performances is the hourly capacity constraints defined on each en-r...

Aircraft deconfliction with speed regulation: new models from mixed-integer optimization

Detecting and solving aircraft conflicts, which occur when aircraft sharing the same airspace are too close to each other according to their predicted trajectories, is a crucial problem in Air Traffic Management. We focus on mixed-integer optimization models based on speed regulation. We first solve the problem to global optimality by means of an exact solver. The problem being very difficult t...

Identification and initial characterization of sources of uncertainty affecting the performance of future trajectory management automation systems

The implementation of the Trajectory Based Operations (TBO) concept in the future ATM system will require the capability of performing accurate and robust trajectory predictions. TBO aims at enabling the efficient management of the expected increasing air traffic volumes strategically, only resorting to tactical interventions as a last resort. To achieve this aim, TBO will rely on Trajectory Ma...

Potential for the Use of Deconfliction Techniques and Algorithms Developed in the Civil Domain to the Management of Autonomous Vehicles

This paper summarises the current state of the art and future intentions for deconfliction of civil aircraft. The paper then describes the relationship between Pilot and Controller to ensure the safe navigation of all aircraft operating in the same airspace. The paper focuses on 4D profile prediction and its use for what is known in Civil Aviation as Medium Term Conflict Detection/Alert. The pa...
